This is my personal website. It is a place where I write what I want for people who care to read. It’s not private per se, but it is of little use to anyone other than myself, those I care about or those who care about me. You’re more than welcome to read the public parts of the site, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself scratching your head and wondering, “Who cares?”

Blog.DavidFrancis.org - closed that one too!

I decided to go ahead and close my personal blog a couple of days ago. This is what I wrote on the page...

I have been blogging here since July 2005 (241 posts) and the time has come to close it. I have a number of reasons for doing so but it basically comes down to time. I don’t have time to blog since things are going so well with my new publishing company.

For friends and family; I will post updates on my main personal website, www.DavidFrancis.org, but this blog is going bye bye. Sure, I’ve saved all of the old posts and they may surface again in the future – on a new system and after I confirm links and images – but for now, I’m taking it offline.

Thank you for reading and your notes and letters of interest. It’s been fun, but the time has come to say goodbye.

SOKY.Biz – Gone but not forgotten
Wednesday, August 06, 2008 6:43 am

I made the difficult decision to remove the SOKY.Biz blog from the Internet. The blog was for and about small business in south central KY and I really enjoyed writing it when I had time. I made the decision to remove the blog after I noticed many of the posts were out of date or incorrect due to changes. I also realized that I was not writing as often as I should so poof... it’s a goner.

I did a quick check of the statistics and apparently, I was enjoying more than 1,500 unique (non-search engine) visits per month and as many as 5,000 unique page views per month. Not bad for a little blog I must say. I never did the FeedBurner thing so I really don’t know how many RSS readers I had, but the XML file was being requested 20,000 times or more per month.

So why shut it down? Time! I have decided to take another tiger by the tail and start another new company. The planning phase is complete and I must focus all of my time to make it come to reality. This company is much bigger than my current publishing business, yet it is the lessons from the smaller one that enabled me to consider the bigger one, and the bigger one will strengthen the smaller one greatly.
